We recommend putting the heaviest school supplies in the back compartment and lightening them towards the front. The front compartment has a mesh pocket with a zipper and a name tag. The deep pocket on the front of the backpack comfortably fits a snack box, or a box in the same design. The back of the backpack is strong, padded and anatomically shaped with aluminum reinforcement.
